We are recruiting for a Design teacher, for a January 2025 start.
The successful person will teach from KG2 to Grade 7 and have a passion for IT and digital learning.
Essential requirements:
- Degree in IT / Design Technology.
- Qualified teacher status.
- Demonstrable competence in IT and digital learning.
- Experience of teaching IT and / or Design in a school setting.
- Passion for teaching.
Desirable requirements:
- Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate (IB) School.
- Experience teaching MYP Design and PYP (Unit of Inquiry).
Job Description - Design Teacher
Reports to: Head of Art & Design / Head of Teaching, Learning & Assessment
Job Purpose
a) To carry out the professional duties of a Design Teacher in accordance with the school's
policies and procedures in order to provide high quality teaching and assessment, that leads
to improved standards of learning, engagement, and achievement for all students.
b) To develop, promote and lead the use of digital learning across the Lower School.
c) To recognise the Spark of Genius in every child and endeavour to follow the Dwight vision,
mission and pillars in every aspect of the role.
Role and Responsibilities
Teaching, Learning & Assessment - reporting to Head of Art & Design
- Planning for outstanding teaching and assessment in line with the schools Teaching and
Learning, and Assessment policies. This includes digital learning and product design in our
MakerSpace (KG2 to Grade 4) and Spark Tank (Grades 5 to 7). - Ensure scope and sequence, unit and lesson planning is up to date, innovative and in line
with IB and school requirements. This will include planning for a combination of standalone
units of digital learning and product design, and interdisciplinary projects in each grade.
Digital Learning Leader (Lower School) - reporting to Head of Teaching, Learning &
Assessment - To develop and promote the use of digital learning across the Lower School.
- To create and promote opportunities for Lower School students to participate in competitions
and extra-curricular activities relating to coding, robotics, AI and digital learning. - To organize and lead the 'Digital Leaders' programme in the Lower School.
- Encourage wider and consistent use of digital learning by teachers. This includes planning
and facilitating professional development for teachers.
Professional duties and responsibilities - Undertake duties as part of the staff duty rota and cover for absent colleagues.
- Undertake relevant training and professional development related to the role.
- Support school events and activities, including the ECA programme.
- Ensuring collaboration and support for all stakeholders.
- Consistently demonstrate professionalism and high professional standards.
- Actively participate in the professional (Dwight) community.
- Any other reasonable duties and additional hours of work as assigned by the Head of School,
Head of Art & Design, or Head of Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
