Role and Responsibilities
Academic and Strategic Leadership
1a. Ensure faculty plan and deliver appropriate, relevant, high quality curriculum plans, units and resources, and that these are regularly reviewed and evaluated, for all grades and subjects. This must include suitable provisions for Inclusion, for example, SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL/ELL students.
1b. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of assessment, including effective use of data to inform planning and intervention.
1c. Establish and implement clear practices for assessing, recording and reporting on student achievement in line with school assessment, target setting, and marking and feedback policies.
1d. Work with SLT to establish, monitor and evaluate short, medium and long term strategic plans for school improvement.
1e. Demonstrate high-level teaching and learning / instructional pedagogy and lead / contribute to development of strategies to improve and evaluate teaching and learning.
1f. Work with SLT in planning budget, resource, curriculum and staffing requirements needed to meet strategic goals.
1g. Work with leadership and procurement teams to plan, organise and oversee education (opex) resources and orders for the school.
1h. Chair division and leadership meetings.
Pastoral Leadership (Grades 6 to 12)
2a. Lead and manage all aspects of student care, guidance and support and, in doing so, create an ethos in which learning, achievement and the school vision, mission and pillars are at the forefront of all decisions.
2b. Demonstrate high-level knowledge and expertise in matters relating to inclusion, child protection and safeguarding. An experienced practitioner would be expected to fulfill the role as one of the school’s designated safeguarding leads.
2b. Ensure high standards of attendance, student behaviour, conduct and appearance, in line with school policy and procedures.
2c. Oversee the Student Councils.
2d. Chair pastoral leadership meetings.
Professional Responsibilities
3a. Establish and communicate clear and high expectations with teams and ensure constructive working relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring collaboration and support.
3b. Consistently demonstrate professionalism and high professional standards.
3c. Clearly and consistently communicate with families and other school community members.
3d. Actively participate in the professional community.
3e. Performance management of MYP and DP coordinators, Dean/s and other school leaders in accordance with employee review procedures.
3f. Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Head of School.
