Mathematics Teacher (MYP & DP)
Position Overview
The Mathematics Teacher, reporting to the Head of Mathematics assumes responsibility for maintaining professional standards aligned with school policies. This role is dedicated to delivering high-quality teaching, fostering enhanced learning standards, and nurturing the individual growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs dynamic lesson plans following the Teaching and Learning Policy, fostering an environment conducive to outstanding education.
- Communicates clear learning objectives and success criteria, tailoring approaches for students with diverse needs (SEN, EAL, G&T) through personalised learning techniques.
- Structures lessons to sustain pace, challenge, and engagement while leveraging assessment for effective learning.
- Utilises performance data and key indicators to shape differentiated lessons, integrating technology for enriched learning experiences.
Maintaining Discipline and Assessment
- Upholds discipline as per the 'Behaviour for Learning Policy,' promoting punctuality, behavioral standards, and diligent homework completion.
- Assesses learning outcomes to refine teaching approaches, regularly marking student work, and setting progression targets aligned with the Marking & Feedback Policy.
- Systematically records student progress, utilizing data to inform planning and enhance student learning.
- Prepares comprehensive reports for parents following Report Writing Guidelines and actively participates in parent/student events.
Curriculum Development and Additional Duties
- Contributes to IB/subject development by creating and updating innovative curriculum plans and units of study.
- Stays updated with subject knowledge through professional development and continuous learning.
- Undertakes staff duties, covers for absent colleagues, and supports examinations and assessments as required.
- Actively engages in relevant training, supports school events, and promotes collaboration among stakeholders.
- Demonstrates unwavering professionalism and upholds high standards consistently.
Qualifications and Attributes
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A PGCE, Bachelor in Education, or equivalent formal teaching qualification for secondary High School.
- A deep commitment and enthusiasm for IB education and teaching.
- Extensive experience in Mathematics teaching, particularly within IB MYP Mathematics and DP, considered highly advantageous.
