The Sherborne Qatar Preparatory School, Bani Hajer site is looking to appoint
inspirational, enthusiastic and talented Preparatory Physical Education (PE) teacher who
have the necessary skills to engage our learners. This is a very exciting time to be joining

Successful applicants must have:

  • A certified teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent from a
    UK University.
  • Exceptional subject knowledge, with experience of teaching Primary Physical
    Education

Role Overview:
Sherborne School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and highly motivated Preparatory
Physical Education (PE) teacher to join our fantastic PE team in delivering curriculum and
extracurricular activities. This role involves working with the team to deliver a high quality
and inclusive PE provision across the school, that encourages students to engage in
physical activity, promotes healthy lifestyles, and supports the holistic development of
each child.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Teaching the PE curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the National Curriculum and
    reflects current best practices, ensuring progression and coverage of skills.
    Assessment & Monitoring:
  • Oversee the assessment and tracking of student progress in PE, ensuring that all
    pupils are meeting their full potential.
  • Use data and feedback to adjust the curriculum and teaching strategies to
    improve student outcomes in PE.

 

Extracurricular Activities & Events:

  • Organise, promote, and manage a variety of extracurricular sports clubs,
    competitions, and school events (both within and outside of school).
  • Foster partnerships with local schools and organizations to enhance sports
    opportunities for students.
  • Lead and support the organisation of school sports days, inter-school
    competitions, and other events that encourage participation and sportsmanship.
    Health & Wellbeing Promotion:
  • Work with other staff to embed physical activity and wellbeing across the school’s
    wider curriculum, promoting a whole-school approach to health and fitness.
  • Lead initiatives that encourage healthy lifestyles, including partnerships with local
    sports organisations or health campaigns.
  • Ensure students are educated about the importance of physical activity, healthy
    eating, and mental wellbeing.
     

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
     

Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience of teaching PE at primary level (ideally 3+ years).
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for Physical Education and an
    understanding of primary education pedagogy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with
    staff, students, parents, and external organizations.
  • Experience in organising sports events, extracurricular activities, or inter-school
    competitions.


 

Desirable:

  • Additional coaching qualifications in specific sports (e.g., football, gymnastics,
    swimming).
  • STA/ Swim England
  • Lifeguard Qualification
  • Knowledge of sports development and how to implement local or national initiatives.
  • Experience in leading whole-school health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ability to analyse data and use it to inform practice and improvement.
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEND) and how to support diverse
    learning needs in PE.
