Gifted & Talented Teacher - Primary

A school in Doha, Qatar is seeking to recruit a Gifted and Talented Teacher with a dynamic personality, a love of learning and a passion for ensuring that children make rich real-world connections. The Gifted Program involves working with our gifted students who have been identified as gifted through the administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). 

We have a large cohort of Gifted students from KG to G5 which now stands at 66 students. 

We are looking for someone who will enrich these students’ learning experiences through meaningful collaboration with others and through facilitating them to work further on their passions and interests. It will be a combination of advancing the student to their next steps in learning as well as enriching the student’s learning by providing other situations to apply and use their skills in. 

This position requires collaboration with the homeroom teachers, subject specialists as well as coordinators to bring an enriching experience to our students. The school is well equipped with many educational resources in a world-class building facility that includes an eco sustainable lab, outdoor gardens, science resources, skylight rooms, fully functioning auditorium etc. The gifted teacher will also have to be very resourceful and reach out to the community at large to find the learning affluences that exist within our local context as well as the global context. 

Gifted students are part of their homeroom class and are also part of a Gifted Cluster within their class. Their teachers are called Gifted Cluster Teachers who liaise with the Gifted Teacher to build an individual learning pathway for each student. You will assess, Report on and write IEP’s for the Gifted cohort in collaboration with the Homeroom teacher. 

We are hoping to find someone who puts children first and is keen on amplifying the learning experience through following their journey in a unique manner. Some examples of such learning journeys are: working with other international schools to pair up our students as video pen pals, coding a new video game, getting access to and setting up conference calls with scientists, setting up a mock TED Talk on a topic of student choice, designing a new outfit whilst being inspired by the some major fashion trends across the world. The possibilities are endless! These will stem from our students and an effective gifted teacher will be able to facilitate this inquiry and take it further through the outreach resources he or she provides.

We expect that the learning experience for the students that is designed by the gifted teacher elevates the standards of what we traditionally think children can achieve, because we know that their achievements have no boundaries.
