The school and role overview
Our School offers an outstanding education for children from infant care to Grade12. The School has two campuses with an Early Learning Village being an architect designed, purpose built facility specifically for Early Childhood. We believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences, in a play-based environment, where they are viewed as active participants in their learning.
Our Early Childhood teachers plan, prepare and guide play-based and child-centered learning opportunities for the children. Our inquiry play based curriculum draws from USA Creative Curriculum and draws from aspects of the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy with elements of STEAMInn. We prepare children for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) which commences at age 3 and continues to Grade 5 of our Elementary school. Teaching Strategies Gold software is used by Early Years teachers to help record observational data about children reaching developmental milestones. It is not necessary to have experience with Creative Curriculum , Teaching Strategies Gold or IB PYP to join our school; but any experience with these will be well regarded.
We are an inclusive school that values each student as an individual. We strive to know each student as a person and learner and create opportunities to engage and feel a sense of belonging within the community.
As an Early Years division we recognise that the social-emotional development of our students is fundamental to their future learning journey. The children are given opportunities to express themselves through exploratory, investigative, and imaginative play, which can be enjoyed either cooperatively or independently. Child initiated and teacher guided experiences enhance language development, social competence, creativity, imagination, and thinking skills. These experiences are supported by developmentally appropriate best practice and start the journey towards academic success.
Our programs draw from Early Learning best practice throughout the world and children attend specialist classes such as swimming, PE, music, library, daily foreign language. Our school is very well resourced and we provide training for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
