The Bogotá Teaching Centre offers a range of courses to adults and young learners at both our Teaching Centre in Bogotá, in partner institutions around the city as well as in several public and private institutions. We have ambitious plans for growth over the coming years, as we seek to grow into new areas of the city through partner institutions for all age groups.

Role Purpose

•    To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching center, through the management of in-house teacher development programme and support
•    To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
•    To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience
•    To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission


Main Accountabilities

Teaching

•    Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning needs and modes of learning
•    Ensure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards, as well as organisational and learner expectations.   
•    Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout their learning, and actively promote learner autonomy and progress
•    Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.

Teaching Centre Activities

•    Support teaching centre’s activities and British Council plans
•    Attend staff meetings and otherwise contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
•    Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards and uphold professional responsibilities and values.

Qualification

Essentials
•    Undergraduate Degree (any discipline)
•    Cambridge CELTA and or Trinity certificate TESOL certificate.

Work Experience
•    2 year post-certificate i.e., CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience
•    Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
•    Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours)
•    Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (400+ hours)
•    Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours)
•   Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)

Additional Information
•    Duration:  1 years 
•    Contract Hours: 12 hours per week
•    Right to work: Candidate must have a valid work permit to work in Mexico.
•    Working Hours: 
•    Classes are offered from 07.00 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 08.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Saturdays.
•    This role may require mornings and/or evenings and Saturday work. Every effort is made to reduce split shifts.
•    Classes are offered online and face-to-face on-site and off-site.
